WHAT NAIL STANDING IS, IN SIMPLE WORDS
You stand barefoot on a board with rows of nails, and the pressure spreads across your whole foot. For the first few minutes the sensations are vivid and all your attention goes into your feet. Your mind quietens for that time, because it has to be here. Then the sharp sensations recede, and breath, warmth and stillness remain.
Nail standing is an attention trainer. There is nothing to analyze or talk through. You stand, breathe and feel, and I am beside you.
If it is your first time
- Does it hurt? The first 3-5 minutes feel sharp, then the sensations recede.
- Is it scary? I am beside you the whole time, and you can step off at any moment.
- Do I need to prepare? No. After booking I send you a short guide.
SOUND FAMILIAR?
You have been working on yourself for years. You read, you analyze, you understand your reasons, and inside it is still noisy. Your mind keeps going at night while your body lives somewhere else, and you carry the business, the family and the decisions on your own.
People come to me for different reasons. These are the most common:
• Everything worked out on the outside, and inside it is empty, with no energy left for joy
• You are at a critical point, you have tried everything and need a restart
• You stand before a new step and want to arrive at it strong, with a clear head
• You are used to solving everything with your mind and want to feel your body again
• You have never tried anything like this and feel a little nervous
If you recognized yourself in even one of these, this practice is for you.

WHAT HAPPENS IN YOUR BODY: from pain to depth
Nail standing begins with an honest experience: for the first 3-5 minutes you live through the pain, with no way around it. This is where the main thing happens.
Minutes 0-3. Under each foot there are thousands of nerve endings, and the brain gets a bright signal. The body reacts as to any strong load: adrenaline, faster breathing, a rising pulse.
Minutes 3-5. Fear and control make the signal louder. When you exhale and let go of resistance, the muscles relax, your weight spreads over more nails, and the brain stops reading the signal as a threat. Many people say the pain disappears and heat and warmth remain, because how strongly we feel pain depends a great deal on attention and the mind.
What the body does meanwhile. It releases endorphins and dopamine, a long exhale engages the calming part of the nervous system, and blood flows into the feet. People describe it as a wave of warmth and light euphoria.
Then comes depth. The mind switches off by itself, your attention rests in the body, and in that silence images, memories and habitual reactions begin to surface. You see your own automatic scenarios from the side and gain an experience from which you can choose differently. The nails also teach a skill that works off the board: exhale and move into the body when things get hard.
A VIEW FROM CHINESE TRADITION
In Chinese tradition the feet were never seen as simple support. Meridians run through them, and on the sole there is a point called the Bubbling Spring (Yongquan), linked with grounding and vital energy. Acupressure has worked with it for a very long time, and reflexology sees the foot as a map of the whole body.
The nails press on many of these zones at once, so nail standing can be seen as a large acupressure for the feet that you do with your own weight. I share this as the view of the tradition, and I trust what people feel on the board.

YOUR SESSION, STEP BY STEP (about 2 hours)
1. Grounding. We meet, talk about what is with you right now and tune in to the practice.
2. Intention. You choose what you would like to feel, and I help you find the words.
3. Standing on the nails. You step onto the board with me beside you. We adjust the time to you, usually 30-40 minutes and sometimes up to an hour. You can step off at any moment.
4. Breath and attention. I guide your breath and attention from your feet through the whole body.
5. Integration. We stay in stillness and talk about what happened for you.
How you may feel afterwards:
• Warmth in your legs and a sense of support, as if you are finally standing on the ground
• A quiet head, where thoughts move slower and calmer
• Deeper breath than usual
• Clarity and a feeling of coming home to yourself
Many people say they fall asleep easily in the evening and live the next day lighter. On the day of the session it is better to plan nothing heavy, so the state can stay with you.
Where: Riga, center.
